An experience sharing meeting was held between the Office of Auditor General of Ethiopia and Somalia on 04 August 2017.
A delegation of senior officials from the Office of the Auditor General of the Republic of Somalia (OAGS) which had come to Addis Ababa to design a strategic plan for OAGS with the assistance of INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) visited the Office of the Federal Auditor General of Ethiopia (OFAG) to draw lesson from the latter.
Mr. Shasho Mekonnen, Special Assistant to the Auditor General welcomed members of the delegation and representatives of IDI and expressed his appreciation to them for visiting OFAG.
At the occasion, Mr. Shasho briefed the delegation on various issues related to Office of the Federal Auditor General of Ethiopia including its current status in undertaking audits, its institutional independence, the effort it is exerting to enhance its audit activity, its stakeholder relations, the challenges it has encountered and its future plans as well as the achievements it has scored during the implementation of the previous and the current strategic plans, and the procedures it followed during the preparation of the current strategic plan. Mr Shahsho also forwarded some suggestions to strengthen the audit activity of the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (SAI Somalia) and replied to numerous questions raised by the participants.
Members of the delegation through their representative Mr. Mohamed Abdi Abdullahi, Director of Planning, expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Office of the Auditor General of Ethiopia for the briefing and warm welcome.
Six senior officials from the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia and two representatives of INTOSAI Development Initiative participated in the experience sharing forum.
